The 2008 Château Lassègue lies four kilometres southeast of Saint-Èmilion on the Côte de Saint-Èmilion, a gentle south-west facing slope . According to Wine-Searcher users, it is one of the most popular wines in the region and its popularity is increasing year on year.
The blend is Merlot dominant : 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
According to Wine Enthusiast, Jan 2013 "This is a round wine, with ripe tannins and a sweet-tasting blackberry flavor. It shows a definite sense of power, and the freshness of the year is also apparent. Big and chunky, this finishes with a crisp black-currant note."
Roger Voss notes: "Elegant, spicy, gamy notes jump from the glass of this medium dark ruby/purple-tinged effort. Pain grille, black currant, cherry and crushed rock characteristics along with prominent minerality are also found in this mid-weight, slightly tannic 2008. An excellent effort, it should drink well for 10-15 years."
The fruit and oak round out the texture and lead into an exceptionally long and balanced finish. The 2008 Château Lassègue has a drinking window of 2011 - 2028.
