The medium to deep garnet purple coloured 2017 Château Pontet-Canet is an elegant, medium bodied red with a refreshing palate with plush tannins and an approachable long fragrant finish.
Produced in the organic certified vineyards in the Pauillac region, the blend consists of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate (March 2020) describes it as a wine with "...beautifully fragrant notes of rosehip tea, lilacs, cinnamon stick, cloves, dried leaves and underbrush with a core of kirsch, raspberry coulis, warm plums and red and black currants plus a waft of pencil shavings."
The nose is fresh, elegant and offers a beautiful finesse. Good length. Drink between 2021-2048.
The 2017 Château Pontet-Canet, as well as the 2011 vintage, is a wonderful red wine to present as a gift.
